Humour at storsand.net!CERT (the Computer Emergency Response Team) do sterling work in warning the IT industry of security loopholes which have been discovered in all sorts of software. They do this by means of "advisories", which are the documents they issue describing the vulnerabilities that have been discovered.Every once in a while a parody of one of these advisories circulates round the web for a short time. Here are two of the best Spoof CERT Advisories.
These quotes are apparently taken from court reports, read 'em and weep. These doctors comments are apparently all true examples of rather unnerving notes and comments made by doctors about their patients. E-Mail Sigs are those short pieces of text which accompany e-mail messages. Most people (ourselves here at storsand.net included) use purely functional sigs. Some, however, use this feature of most e-mail clients to spread a little humour. Here are a few of our favourites, and if you know of one that you feel should be included we'd love to hear from you. The General Motors Press Release is one of those things that would be wonderful if it were true. We have our doubts that this is, in fact, the case. A wonderful read nevertheless. Pooh Goes Apeshit is one of those pages we found quite by accident whilst idly browsing the web one day. It's one of the funniest things we'd ever read, so we grabbed it. Here it is reproduced in full, if you are (or know) the author we'd really love to hear from you so that full credit can be given. USA To Revert To British Colony was released when the Americans were having some difficulty in electing a new president. Apparently they forgot how to count, and once they'd worked it out they realised that they didn't have enough time to count everybody's votes, so they didn't! The result was that George W Bush became president (wasn't one George Bush enough?) - whether it was fair process or not is for you to decide, but the British Government obviously decided that enough was enough and the BBC was used to issue this press-release. |
